The prominent Chinese rights legal lawyer Wang Quanzhang has been sentenced to four and a half years in jail for disruption. 

A court in Tianjin heard on Monday that Wang had been discovered "blameworthy of disruption of state power". 

Wang, a lawyer who protected political activists, victims of land seizures and members of the banned religious group Falun Gong, was attempted in a shut hearing at the second halfway individuals' court on 26 December. Chinese courts frequently attempt delicate political cases amid the Christmas season when western representatives and media are away.

He was one of roughly 250  lawyers and activists confined in 2015, as part of what is currently known as the 709 crackdown, and was the remainder of the group as yet anticipating preliminary.
